Rio Grande 100% Caribbean Cocoa (Approx. 100g)
Product information
Cacao is believed to have come from the Andes, in the Amazon of South America. The Spanish started shipping it to Europe from Mexico in the late 1500s. The cocoa beans produced from this are harvested, dried, fermented and roasted. The roasted beans are then removed from their outer shell and become cacao nibs, which can then be ground up and turned into cocoa sticks or balls.
The joy of eating chocolate spread throughout Europe and is still a popular treat choice today. The Spanish also introduced it to the Philippines, the West Indies, and North America. Cocoa is prevalent across the globe, giving a mention to the Caribbean which has many cacao trees and cocoa pods all over which are arguably underrated.
